Zwift Games – It’s Time To Race
I’ve recently increased my training volume, and with the Zwift Games starting soon, I’m excited to see how I perform in the upcoming races.
In proper cycling terms, my volume isn’t considered high, but based on what I can safely handle and where I started, 10-12 hours per week is appropriate for me at this stage.
Could I have done more? I suspect so, as I’ve found it relatively comfortable so far. However, I plan to reassess at the end of summer and into autumn. That period will be my focus for building the largest possible aerobic base to prepare for a winter full of racing.

Over the past few weeks, my plans have become much clearer. The Zwift Games seem to mark the end of the winter racing season on Zwift, which aligns perfectly with my goal of spending more time on other activities afterward.
Zwift Games
Judging by the stages at the Zwift Games, they progressively increase in difficulty and will better match my abilities each week.
This is perfect as I can sharpen as I go and hopefully save my best performances until the end.
My first race is this Saturday, which seems to favor sprinters. For the Kaze Kicker, I’m hoping for a fast pace and to stay near the front at the finish. I don’t anticipate any dramatic moves from myself at the end, as my smaller size means I don’t have a lot of raw power.
If an opportunity to break away arises, I will seize it. However, my priority is for the race to be fast, ensuring I remain well-positioned in the general classification.
My Targets
My goals are straightforward: to finish as high as possible in each race and see where I stand at the end.
After gaining experience in previous races, I am now committed to competing in the fastest race possible each time. I’d rather finish last in a faster race than win a slower one.
My goal is to improve my racing score enough to reach the advanced category by the end. That’s when I’ll truly be able to challenge myself.
My Setup
It hasn’t taken long and I have caved into upgrading my setup.
I recently upgraded to a better fan and the Zwift Ride Frame, and so far, I have no regrets. I look forward to sharing more about my experience with these upgrades in the future.
I’ve also done some tidying up and added motivational elements around me to inspire me while I’m riding.
This was also because we were clearing out the house and I had no other place to store it.

Training This Week
This week I’ll reduce the volume slightly, but since I’m racing on Saturday, I can still fit in my long ride on Sunday. Maintaining this aerobic training alongside racing is crucial for sustaining my performance over the coming weeks.
